Our Story
Hope Church is a daughter church of Grace Church in Middleburg Heights, OH and is part of the larger family of The Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) which has 20,000 churches around the world.
Dr. Gordon Meier and Rev. Jim Garber formed a pastoral team in 2009 to provide leadership for Hope Church, a new church in Brunswick, Ohio. Prayer meetings were started in March 2009 and weekly classes were held on Sunday mornings at Grace Church. A group of approximately 120 people formed the launch team for Hope Church and the church officially started on September 20, 2009. Services were held for six months at Brunswick High School.
Hope Church purchased a building at 1905 Pearl Road on 2.5 acres as a ministry center and after completing renovations on the 13,200 square-foot building, services were moved to the church building on Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010, six months after the grand opening. Shortly after the church celebrated its first anniversary, a third weekend service, Hope at 5:00 p.m. (Saturday night) was begun. In January 2011, Rev. Tom O'Connell joined the staff as the associate pastor for youth ministry. Modular classrooms were added to provide additional space for children's and youth ministry, and 2.5 acres of adjacent property was also purchased. An office building and recreational fields are housed on this property. In September 2012, Pastor David Trainer joined the pastoral staff and Ann-Marie Trainer was hired as the children's director.
At the end of three and a half years of ministry, Hope Church had 1,000 inclusive members and reported 210 conversions and 130 baptisms. In April 2013 Pastor Jim Garber succeeded Pastor Gordon as the senior pastor.
